What Our Eye Doctors Need to Know

Is it already time for your next eye exam? If you want to make sure your exam is effective and worthwhile, there are a few things we will need from you.

Because your eyes can be affected by seemingly unrelated changes to your health, it's vital that you inform us of any recent changes you might be aware of. What are the sorts of things we'd need to be informed of? Here are a few examples: diabetes, pregnancy, high blood pressure or allergies.

Habits like drinking or smoking can have a negative effect on vision, so if these are parts of your lifestyle, let us know. In addition, we'll examine the way you use your eyes. Does your job take place in a factory, or do you work in an office? Knowing this information will help us to figure out your vision correction needs.

And if there are any eye diseases effecting members of your family, you should tell us, because several of them are hereditary. It's a lot easier to look out for warning signs when we already know which conditions you're vulnerable to.

Make an appointment if you notice any changes to your sight including blurriness, fatigue, flashes of light, spots and double vision. We'll then do our very best to get to bottom of the source of the condition, and then recommend the most appropriate treatment plan. It's also useful for us if you take your most recent glasses along to your appointment. They give us important information, even if you're a contact lens wearer. So don't forget all this when you come for your exam. Together, we'll figure out how to solve whatever issue you may be having!
